There is no doubt that cracker's always tend to be one step ahead of software creators, no matter how tough the software protection is they always come up with a method to bypass it sooner or later, But, Adobe seems to be very unlucky with their CS4 product release, first it was the and now got cracked and keygened within three days of its initial release, massive sized trial version of Adobe CS4 suite with crack patches made their way on torrent portals and file-sharing websites within days after release. Makes use of a license activation system to make Keygens and shared serial-number obsolete by blacklisting them via a central activation server, Surprisingly, smart crackers defeated the whole CS4 activation system using a simple trick, blocking access to the activation server using.
Adobe CC 2017-2018 Master Collection. Creative Cloud offers the best creative tools in the world, always up to date. And now, all the apps and resources, including new Adobe Stock images are always at your fingertips right there where they serve.
After generating the key using the keygen, users simply need to block access to Adobe Activation servers using their firewalls or, effectively disabling the CS4 licensing system from verifying the registration serial-key. If people on this website do not appreciate your product, I do.
You guyz at Adobe did a wonderful job. I am trying to design my website when I came across your trial product, and I fell in love with it, right away. However, I would still support the hacking, though not cracking, of any private software because they are too expensive. People like me are really poor and would consider the hacking of your product to be a honor and an advantage. So, good job.
Try to learn from the holes found and make it stronger, and I hope that hackers would at the same time be able to hack those products next time (to make it more fun =D. I know that I am a person who also has to search everywhere to find programs to use because of the prices on the shelves and so forth and can understand when another uses the same tecniques I do to obtain the software and that it is wrong of us to do so, given the regard that not all people have the funds to buy said products. But I do agree with you, Adobe's software is one of the leading software brands in designing and development of graphics and so forth and I give them a 10/10 for that. I enjoy creating and designing things such as websites and so forth and Adobe has done an excellent job in creating such software. 1 000 000 thumbs up to Adobe!!!! I found and downloaded/installed the CS3 Master Collection and the install worked flawlessly!
The file included a text file with several serials that I put in at the start of install. I was never asked for an activation and it has never tried to activate. I've checked my hosts file and it was untouched except for one non-related entry. My question, should I even worry about adding the activation.com to my host file or leave well enough alone? As long as everything is working fine do I need to worry about it? I always check my task manager and kill the FNPlicensingservice when it pops up (usually at initial start up and every time I run one of the Adobe programs) and I never use any of the programs while I am online - always disable the internet every time I use any of them, just in case.
Would you bother? Thanks for any info.NOTE: No - I DO NOT have the list of serials anymore, so don't ask me, people!
If you want to download any programs, I suggest you look online for the torrent sites - start with the letter 'H'. That's all I'm going to say on that matter, too.

My momma didn't raise no fool!' I downloaded the trial version of PS C4 about a month ago. I followed the above instructions for my dell and tried adding the '- REMOVED -' line, but it will not let me save the notepad file. It tells me the following: 'Cannot create the C: Windows Systems32 drivers etc host file. Make sure the path and file name are correct.'
Also, when I enter the serial no. It will not accept it. I am not sure if it has to do w/ the fact that I saved PS in an external drive and not directly on my computer. Thank you in.
I bought and paid for a legal copy of Ps. I've been on the line with Adobe and they're literally no help. When I purchased this it was on an XP machine. After a couple of years it died.
When I tried to put it on my new Win7 64 machine it says it's not a valid. As I read your info it is just not clear what I should try in the local host area. This is what is there now: 127.0.0.1 Local Host 127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com 127.0.0.1 practivate.adobe.com I've gone the www.blockdomainname.com route, but so far nothing I've done works. Do you have any suggestions?
NB it worked for CS4 as well If you did not receive any errors during installation, then perform these steps in the order given. For an incomplete installation, follow the steps in knowledge-base document kb401401 (Windows) or kb402151 (Mac OS). If you received errors during installation, and you've never been able to open your CS3 application, then the installation is incomplete. Please follow the steps in Technote kb401401 (Windows) or Technote kb402151 (Mac OS). Move or delete the cache.db file. Move the cache.db file from the following locations, onto the desktop or another folder. You can delete this file, but if you do, you'll need to enter your serial number the next time you open your application.
On Windows XP and Windows Vista, the cache.db file is located in Program FilesCommon FilesAdobeAdobe PCDcache On Mac OS X, the cache.db file is located in Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PCD/cache Try to open your Adobe application. I've been doing everything I read about on this site, including these instructions, and it's not working. I have the edited hosts file, set date back, opened photoshop, deactivated, opened again and entered new serial, set date back to today.
For entering a new serial I've been entering one of several from a list of 11 from code tempest. I wouldn't expect any of the numbers would make a difference since with a properly edited hosts file this should solve any registration problem. Thanks very much. Merci, Gracias, Many thanks, The modified.dll applied to all CS4 apps. Worked like a charm. One day Adobe M$ et al will realise it is far better to produce and sell software at a reasonable price than to continually rip off people that cannot really afford their overpriced apps. Such as research students.
Thank God our universities give the knowledge to us to be able to reverse engineer and make these apps. FREELY available to the people that REALLY need them. Very best wishes to the hackers and crackers, you are a fine example to us all. 1 - delete: library/Application support/adobe/adobe PCD/ cache/ cache.db 2 - Open Terminal (found in Applications/Utilities/). In the terminal window, paste in: sudo /Applications/TextEdit.app/Contents/MacOS/TextEdit /etc/hosts 3 - Hit return and type in your admin password.
4 - A file will automatically open in TextEdit. In TextEdit, at the bottom of the document, hit return and paste in the following: - REMOVED - 5 - Save the file. Do NOT do a 'Save As'. Close the file. 6 - If you're on OS X 10.4, reboot. If you're on OS X 10.5, in a new terminal window, paste in: sudo dscacheutil -flushcache Hit return and exit out of Terminal. 1) Perform a search in ADOBE using the PROGRAM files for: 'dll' 2) Replace that file with the one in the FIX folder 3) Go to Windows System32 drivers etc, open the 'hosts' file there with the Notepad editor 4) Add these Lines: - REMOVED - 5) In addition, go to C: Program Files Common Files Adobe Adobe PCD cache and delete the file 'cache.DB' PLEASE NOTE: Steps 4 and 5 may not be necessary as it may messed up your filters and plugins.
So, use steps 1 and 2, then use your firewall to block access to the adobe activation sites. If these dont work, set your computer date to January 19th, 2009 or earlier. IF NEEDED - ADOBE CS4 SERIALS: - REMOVED- ACROBAT 9 (If it is giving problems): - REMOVED-. To prior poster - reboot (you are on 10.4 which means all versions starting with 10.4).
For everyone, here is how this fix works: The lines like this one: '127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com' are instructions to your computer to tell it that the server at activate.adobe.com is now located at internet location 127.0.0.1. The long list represents all the activation servers and this list points them all to this special address. What's special about 127.0.0.1?
It is called the 'loopback' address and means 'my own machine': using this address basically tricks the software into trying to activate the applications by communicating with your own computer instead of the proper location of the adobe activation servers. Since your own computer won't respond to this request (it's not an activation server), the software assumes that the activation server is temporarily offline so it allows you to use the software in the meanwhile (since it can't just lock you out when you have a valid serial just because the adobe server might be offline). Now, the sudo line to -flushcache tells OS X 10.5 and higher to flush out any cached knowledge it has of the adobe server addresses, since entries in the cache could be used before the new 127.0.0.1 entries. By clearing the cache, you 'force' the Mac to use the new address. However OS X 10.4.x and lower do not have a quick command to clear the dns cache, but rebooting does the trick as well. Finally, the CS4 software does require that the activation server EVENTUALLY be reachable after a certain amount of time.
This is why you eventually expire. So, at this point, you need to deactivate. This is easy: roll back the time so that the application does start, choose deactivate (and choose the option to remove the serial number completely from the computer). Now you are back to a fresh install.
Move the time forward to current time, restart the software, and re-enter the key. Now the process starts all over again. Hope this helps you all to understand the process. Everybody who's tried the following fix: - set the clock back, - plug in the blocked IP addresses into terminal - clear the cache - deactivate in the program itself - re-start the program - plug in your serial - set-back the time to normal Of course the application is still running, BUT once you close it and try and open it again it says license expired still.
Well at least it does for me anyway. I have tried this fix, ive edited the host files and reentered serial numbers but no luck. One thing i cant do is delete my cache because i havent got an ADOBE PCD folder. Can someone please tell me how to find and delete the cache folder if i havent got a PCD folder, i'm on Mac 10.5. Or can someone aknowledge that the above fix does work for them when they quit and re-open because it isnt for me. Apparently the old serial has a trigger to stop the CS4 work starting the day jan/20/2009, that's why if you set the system date back to 19/jan/2009 the applications work.
But to get CS4 back to work normally is not necessary to back the system date, everything that needs to be done is: 1. Delete the file cache.db (mac - Library / Application Support / Adobe / Adobe PCD / cache and windows - C: Program Files Common Files Adobe Adobe PCD cache). This will eliminate the serial already used by CS4 2. Empty the trash (just in case) 3. Open one of the applications (eg photoshop) 4. Install a serial later when the application ask 5. You are ready to go (at least until the date of the trigger of this new serial) found a serial that seems to work (works for me) but unfortunately it is for mac, but there are some in the posts 110 (mac) and 116 (windows) of the following Address:.
It really is that easy. (Look at post above - THE SERIAL HAS A TRIGGER) Tried a few others and they didn't work.
But deleting the file cache.db and then entering a new serial number does the trick. Also, I do advise blocking the adobe servers, however you can also use Little Snitch if you are on a mac. (I'm sure there must be something similar for windows. It will tell you when a program is trying to connect to anything. Then you have the choice to let it proceed or not.
OK so I panicked and kind of needed a fresh system anyway, so I figured I'd wiped my hard drive, installed a fresh system (MBP Mac OS 10.5) and tried installing the programs 1st thing, before I had even connected to the internet for the 1st time. Totally disconnected. Airport off, no ethernet. That should do it, right? Still got the 'license expired' message. I was truly baffled then.what kind of evil trickery could be going on??
But now the date bomb on the serials makes sense. I went ahead and rolled back to CS3, because I had to have the programs one way or another. Now my question is: on a fresh system, what would be the proper course of action?
Like this?: Install as normal, then go through the steps: - set the clock back, - plug in the blocked IP addresses into terminal - clear the cache - deactivate in the program itself - re-start the program - plug in your serial - set-back the time to normal? Would this need to be done for each program? Would this just create another date bomb?
I guess if it did I know the process for getting around it. Thank all that is good and holy I found this thread? I thought I was done for.
Ive used the host crack for windows and all the adobe aoftware works fine, but at the same time my internet isn't workin like it used to. Certain websites won't work for me and i can't get online on other networks that i use outside of home. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a solution?
How do i delete the hosts crack file? I've tried to delete it already but it says 'cannot create the C: Windows System32 Drivers etc hosts file' Make sure that the path and filename are correct.
Im using Vista, can anyone help? On a MAC, i was still running into the same problem many others here were/are. After deactivating and entering the serial, it was still giving me 'Expired' when i set the clock forward. It turns out it was TRULY my serial. I was entering a temp serial. I searched and downloaded a perm serial (after making sure my hosts are edited).
This perm serial works perfectly. Now i don't have to reset the clock every time i use the apps.
To answer the question 'Would this just create another date bomb?' The answer is YES.
If you use a temp serial - not a perm serial. I just spent an hour reading this forum and there are only two answers to any of the questions.
Both slightly technical for people who don't know there way around there computer. So hear is this for total begginers. Search google for 'iserial'. This is a program that will help you get all the serials for all the programs you need. Now that you have Iserial you will also need a progam called 'littlesnitch'. Now go to adobe.com and download the master suites trial.
If you don't want to pay anything use a bit torrent site such as 'mininova' to download the trial. I repeat the trial. Now turn on littlesnitch, 2. Intsall the trial as a trial 3. When installation is complete open any cs4 program and when prompted to either insert a key or continue as trial. Insert one of your keys. Evrything will work fine.
In iserial you need to look under the creative suites to find what you need. Now all programs work fine except (in my case dreamweaver) I get a message that says product has expired. Dial the date back refers to your actual computers date. Change in system settings or in preferences.
Follow instructions listed again and again in previous posts. Having done the delete cache, clock rewind, new serial no.,deactivate, etc., i thought that i could accept doing this every 30 days for a fresh trial install but, the license expiry notice did become a pain. Yesterday i tracked down the dll crack and used it to overwrite the original and BINGO! A full install.
Happy bunnie am i. Many thanks to all you guys for taking the time and trouble to post a geat workaround to the Adobe 20th january time bomb. Hope your all around when CS 5 comes out.:-. Hi how u doing? I've got a doubt. See, I'd like to get these adobe cs4 products: -premier -illustrator -flash -photoshop -after effects as u can see, I don need the entire suite.
So what do u recamend me to do? I mean, do I use a keygen in every single cs4 product? And if it like this, how do I do the host thing? And also, what about this.dll archive that people mention in other web pages?
If u have time and want to do some charity:D I'd be really grateful if u helped me with this,u know. The best way to get these programs and have them working perfectly! Thanks and bye - I have windows vista by the way-. I'm not sure if this'll stop the full functionality of photoshop cs4, but i get prompt whenever i start it up stating: 'one or more files in the adobe application support folder, necessary for running photoshop, are missing. Please run the photoshop installer and re-install photshop' so far, i haven't ran into a problem while using it.
I'm not sure if this prompt only affects a certain aspect of the program. Regardless, is anyone familiar with this prompt, and if there's a way around it without having to reinstall photoshop cs4?
As for the acrobat 9 pro serial. I was able to find a working mac only serial through google. I'd post it, but it'd be taken off right away. Just type 'acrobat 9 mac pro serial' and it'll be visible in the text preview of the 5th search result down. I have an interesting problem that i can seem to bypass. I installed a pirated version of Cs4 Illustrator, Indesign and Photoshop, and the next day i got a call from my internet provider saying that i had downloaded adobe cs4 programs and that adobe traced it back to my IP address. So yeah that scared me a little, but i still need to use the programs for school.
So i found out that flexnet has an anti-piracy initiative and can sense via internet activation who is using a pirated serial/crack/keygen. Which brings me to my question is there anyway to bypass the flexnet activation? When i reinstalled it after my internet provider told me to delete it i used comodo firewall to block its access to the internet. In doing so it wont work due to lack of activation hence the problem. Maybe im just not understanding the problem.
A lot, let me repeat a LOT of people are having issues when installing Adobe CS4 (and now CS5 as well) onto their PC’s and MAC’s, during installation (Checking System Profile) it “freezes” at 90% I say “freezes” with parenthesis because it technically doesn’t freeze, the process just never continues. Ok, so your here because you have this issue and you don’t want to hear the BSso here goes the solution It isn’t because of Adobe Flash, it isn’t because of a trial installation of CS4 or CS3. It’s the lame ass stupid fckin anti-piracy check.
Here’s how to solve the problem and install your legit OR pirated copy (Shadyman) or whatever version you have. First:You must un-install prior installations of CS4 (or CS5), attempting to do so by Windows Control PanelAdd remove programs (or Programs & Features in Vista), results in FAILURE, the stupid shit just doesn’t remove. (Mac users use APPZAP) So go and download the uninstall app from Adobe, BUT before you run it, Windows user must download and install (then restart your computer) “Windows Uninstaller something or other utility” (Link is included in the PDF in the uninstaller program from Adobe ) Trust me, you can’t skip this step.
😉 my fellow MAC users, the process is almost identical, except well, you won’t use Windows uninstaller something or other, you’ll use the MAC version, which the link is included as well in the same location above. Second: you run the Windows/Mac uninstaller utility, it will ask for a restart, sooo Restartonce your back in Windows (or Tiger/Leopard/Snow Leopard), run the Adobe uninstaller utility, it is a Command prompt box in windows, and I haven’t run it in MAC sooo I imagine it to be a terminal utility. It will ask if you want to remove Adobe CS3 or CS4 or CS5, I just chose to remove everything. (I know it’s scary because it just so happens that you have a deadline to meet tomorrow and don’t want to risk uninstalling everything we all have that same deadline lol) Once its done uninstalling (it took like 10 minutes), go into Control Panel and run windows default uninstall (add/remove programs, Programs & features in Vista), Mac users, your pretty much ready for the next step after a restart. Back into windows/Tiger/Leopard/Snow Leopard, DISCONNECT from the INTERNET completely, I say this because some people don’t pay attention that if they disc0nnect a LAN line, sometimes a wireless signal is picked up and again, your connected to the internet, just disable all NIC or wifi ports completely.
Mac users, disable Airport, disconnect Cat5 cable, This applies for genuine versions as well as pirated versions! For me on Windows Vista OS any of all Adobe CS4 software instalations Setup.exe get’s freezen – stops on 90%. In “Programs and Features” it doesn’t show-up me any new Adobe CS4 software. I have tryed registry/tepm cleaning, it doesn’t helps. And Adobe CS4 Clean Script and Windows Clean Up Utility doesn’t work for me. Have you any new solution on to intall Adobe CS4 softwares? Beside’s after some work on Photoshop or InDesign Windows Vista on “Programs and Features” doesn’t let me unintall Adobe software.
Here is what happened to me, in short: I had perfectly working CS4 on Windows XP SP3. Then I decided to try CS5 and downloaded from torrents.to Adobe Photoshop CS5 portable edition.
AFAIK – it does not exist yet? and I was fooled around and after starting CS5 – CS4 gets corrupted totally! I couldn`t even start Illustrator CS4 and whole CS4 become Time Trial ! tryout. This is how I solved it: – Go to Control Panel and uninstall CS4. – It will “do something!?” – and after 2-3 seconds CS4 will not be anymore displayed in installer BUT all files will remain on program files/adobe directory ! – Then go & install CC CrapCleaner free program, open it, RUN it clear system once and then go to REGISTRY tab.
Click “Scan for Issues” button – it will in a 20 seconds find all problems and display thousands of files in its window. Then click on “FIX SELECTED ISSUES” button and reboot. CrapCleaner will delete all traces including broken CS4 package: Just in case I read it here, I installed also Disk Cleaner freeware tool, that does more or less – the same as CrapCleaner. I, just in case, cleaned system once more using Disk Cleaner it worked very fast and then reboot again. After this essential steps, I unpacked CS4 I have good old working version to Desktop and installed it.
After 2 hours of unpacking and installing – all went well! Finally everything is back on track! CS4 works and I deleted CS5. I will have to wait if there will be just CS5 Photoshop that could work parallel with CS4 on my WindowsXP SP3. I hope my story will help somebody. Dude, I really appreciate all the work you’ve put into helping us with getting CS4 to install! But, like some folks here, I’m still hanging at 90%!
Me: MAC 10.5.7, CS4 Master Collection OEM cheapie! (probably pirated!) I ran the cleaner, and it confirmed that I had NO previous CS3’s or 4’s installed. I restarted I unplugged from network turned off Airport Ran installer.
I’d like to take you up on that offer to remote in to my machine I’ll be happy to make it worth your while Hate to mess with your weekend, but I’m DESPERATE. It’s the old “I have a deadline blah blah,” but for reals I do. Help a brotha’ out! (614) 286-8066.

David, I am having a lot of trouble with this. I am trying a pirated version. I installed it once, it worked fine, but had issues with the hosts file, so uninstalled it and tried again, this time it stops at 90% and a setup error pops up and the whole thing shuts down. I’ve tried all of the “fixes” I’ve read. Done the adobe uninstall steps, with the windows clean up. Done ccleaner on the registry, done disk cleanup. I can’t find any trace of adobe stuff, but i get the error.
I have used the 30 trial version (after effects, which is what I am trying to install) and it worked fine so I know my system can handle it. It’s frustrating because the first time it worked and now it wont and I don’t know what changed. Any help would be much appreciated! I tried this and worked fine SOLUTION: (1) Attempt to install Flash CS4 upgrade normally (clicking setup.exe). You probably already did thisso you can actually skip (2) Go to control panel, add/remove programs and you should see Flash Professional CS4 in the program list.
Leave the control panel up, you will need this later (3) Navigate to the following folder on your hard drive: C: Program Files Common Files Adobe Installers a68eec966ce913ddaa63251dc82ed31 resources common scripts (4) Locate a file called “ContainerProxy.js” open it with a text editor (E.G.: Notepad). (5) Go to line 1102 or simply search for: “jsonObj = jsonToObject(window.external.SetSessionInitialized(initValue));” and replace this line with: “jsonObj = jsonToObject(SetSessionInitialized(initValue));” (6) Save the file by pressing Strg+S or use the menu: Menu - File Save. (7) Go back to the Control Panel (8.) Highlight software being installed (Flash CS4 ) (9) Reinitialize the installation by clicking on the change/remove button.
(10) Setup should now work as normal. For Mac users: Block all connections to activate.adobe.com with little snitch!
I just tried doing this. I followed step one and the following message popped up in Terminal: extEdit785:c0b. CFMessagePort: bootstrapregister: failed 1100 (0x44c) ‘Permission denied’, port = 0x4403, name = ‘com.apple.TextEdit.ServiceProvider’ See /usr/include/servers/bootstrapdefs.h for the error codes. The TextEdit window popped up too, and I added the text for step two and saved it then went back over to Terminal and pasted the text for that and nothing happened. Not sure if I’ve done what I needed to do or not. This worked for me.
Only part that I needed to do something different is the following: Go to line 1102 or simply search for: “jsonObj = jsonToObject(window.external.SetSessionInitialized(initValue));” (I couldnt find this so I did a search for: setsessioninitialized) It found the line and then replaced it with: jsonObj = jsonToObject(SetSessionInitialized(initValue)); SOLUTION: (1) Attempt to install Flash CS4 upgrade normally (clicking setup.exe). You probably already did thisso you can actually skip (2) Go to control panel, add/remove programs and you should see Flash Professional CS4 in the program list. Leave the control panel up, you will need this later (3) Navigate to the following folder on your hard drive: C: Program Files Common Files Adobe Installers a68eec966ce913ddaa63251dc82ed31 resources common scripts (a68eec966ce913ddaa63251dc82ed31 — It might be under a different name, just go into the folder and you will soon know if it’s the correct one or not.) (4) Locate a file called “ContainerProxy.js” open it with a text editor (E.G.: Notepad). (5) Go to line 1102 or simply search for: “jsonObj = jsonToObject(window.external.SetSessionInitialized(initValue));” and replace this line with: “jsonObj = jsonToObject(SetSessionInitialized(initValue));” (PLEASE SEE THE TOP OF THIS PAGE FOR HELP ON THIS BIT ABOVE) (6) Save the file by pressing Strg+S or use the menu: Menu - File Save. (7) Go back to the Control Panel (8.) Highlight software being installed (Flash CS4 ) (9) Reinitialize the installation by clicking on the change/remove button. I have been spending the last three days trying to install CS3 and CS4 on a Server 2008 R2 and that definitely was not easy, but I finally found a simple, yet confusing solution that worked for me.
I hope it works for you too 🙂 First of all. Disconnect the Internet, or better, set up a firewall to permanently block all communication with adobe.com for the programs I simply dare not let it update anything, as that may screw up the installation. I have little faith in Adobe’s abilities to keep CS3 and CS4 running smoothly after updating. It’s not a pirated version.
I’m just not eager to go through this three day hell again) Read through the entire text before you try it yourself, as the solution at the bottom may be what also works for you and then it would be senseless to go through all these steps first 😉 – First of all, open a command prompt and type: change user /install This enters the user profile into an Installation mode (Server 2008 R2, remember?), which permits more changes to the registry, than even “run as administrator” does. Installing CS3 (I installed this AFTER I managed to get CS4 installed): – See fixes for CS4 regarding unreadable registry keys.
No need to check log, as installer shows you which keys. – CS3 has quite a lot more of these unreadable keys in Server 2008, than CS4 does. Installing CS4: If something goes wrong and the installer will not initialize (stays at 90% for more than a few minutes), close the installer and do the following: – Open the log file (unpack the.log.gz with winrar) Located in C: Program Files(x86) Common Files Adobe Installers – Check the bottom of the log.
– Some registry keys will be noted as unreadable. – Search for these HEX keys and change the parent and subkey ownerships to ‘Administrators’. – Then add ‘Administrators’ as users with full rights on the subkeys. – Remove any Adobe installation (Setup and any CS3/CS4 related installations) using Windows Installer Cleanup. Download WIC here: – Run the CS4 Clean script. (requires WIC) Download CS4 IC here: – Delete the Program files(x86)/Common files/Adobe folder.
– If other Adobe programs use the Adobe folder, you may damage them, but they are a helluvalot easier to reinstall than CS3 and CS4. – Reboot and try installation again. (Remember to ‘change user /install’ in a command prompt. This state changes whenever you log off, reboot or successfully complete an installation) If it still fails/hangs at 90% for more than a few minutes, even after 10+ tries, then try this last simple workaround which worked for me although I can only guess as to why – Start Internet Explorer. – Start installation. – Installer now completes the initialization beyond the 90%. – Close Internet Explorer, when installer requests this.
I FINALLY got CS4 Master Suite installed on my last and final attempt before going with a fresh clean install of windows. Let me start by saying that I initially had this installed and running on an XP desktop (really not the best machine performance wise) but it was working fine for a few months.
I always ignored any updates from Adobe however, someone ELSE that used my PC thought accepting he minor update for Acrobat 9.xxx was doing me a favor. Well that basically screwed everything up, telling me that only CERTAIN apps of the entire collection were not authentic & would not let that program open. I read and executed a lot of different tips & suggestions including everyone listed above here but noooooo luck as I see so many others have experienced. SO here is my step by step process that got me back up & running. We all know that the “Uninstall” feature is completely useless. The best way to remedy that is to go to & download their free program that forcefully removes any program you want.It has different levels of how deep you want to uninstall (lite, moderate, or complete with registry removal, etc.) So download it & install it.
It gives you a panel similar to your control panels “Add/Remove” programs. Don’t uninstall anything just yet. Download Microsoft’s clean-up utility here: & also Adobe’s here:. Honestly, I really don’t think they were ultimate the “fix”, but I used them in addition to all these other steps & it worked so I suggest doing the same. SO now you have downloaded everything you will need so you don’t need an internet connection anymore so COMPLETELY disable it in whatever way is easiest. But as others mentioned, if you ignore this, you can forget about having a successful install. Use the Revo Uninstaller to remove, not only the “CS4 Creative Suite”, but anything and everything that is an Adobe product.Adobe AIR, Adobe Flash plug-in, Acrobat, Adobe Reader.REMOVE THEM ALLLL.
I used the “moderate setting with Revo. I also deleted all the suggested bold registry keys.
Navigate to C:/Program Files/’And then any folder that starts with Adobe’ (i.e “Adobe”, Adobe Media Player”, etc. Go into those folders and delet as many folders & files within those as you can. Some it won’t let you, but do as many as you can. Navigate to C:/Common Files/’And then any folder that starts with Adobe’ (i.e “Adobe”, “Adobe AIR”, etc.) DO the same thing. GO in and try and delet as many folders & files relating to anything Adobe. Empty your recycle bin & restart your PC. Install the Windows Clean Up Utility you previously downloaded and run the program.
It’s pretty self explanatory. Restart again. Unzip the Adobe CS4 Clean up script and double click the CS4InstallerDatabaseUtility.exe. Follow the onscreen instructions. Ow if things are going well, it SHOULD tell you that there is NOT any CS4 items on this comp. If it successfully said it removed something. You probably didn’t delete EVERYTHING you could have when going on your seek & destroy Adobe folder/file mission. Restart yet AGAIN(I knowpain in the assbut it worked) #11.
Nowit’s time to roll the dice. Attempt to run your Adobe CS4 Install.exe. Now be warned, it still pauses at the 90% and appears to have frozen and right about the time you are about to say “Ahhhh F.K!!!! (about 1-2mins, it continues the rest of the install process. Now as far as the instructions from that point.you can easily find those answers. Just getting to the point of INSTALLING the program was a pain in the ass. After all is said & done, you can reconnect to the internet but DONT accept any Adobe updates unless you want to do this all over again.
I know disabled them from even occurring to try and update as I should have originally done. Let me know if this process worked for anyone else!
I tried several ways to correct the hanging, nothing seemed to work very fustrating. But I did have success in the end. The adobe cleanscript was rubbish. In the end I downloaded a programme called “perfect uninstaller”., and pain stakingly uninstilled each and every adobe programme, and filters etc. Anything that was named adobe was deleted. I then did a quick search and deleted any emptly folders too, did a normal windows disk cleanup.
Turned the pc off for the night and ran CS4 again this morning. All worked fine, no hanging this time. Also did not need to disconnect the internet either. I am having a hell of a time getting CS4 design installed. I downloaded the program and put in the serial number which worked for about an hour.
Then I tried to delete the automatic updating ability (but probably screwed that up). Then I uninstalled and reinstalled the entire suite(4 hours later) I downloaded the appropriate “amtlib.dll” file from rapidshare.
I think I may have screwed up here but I did not know how to copy and paste the file. So, I clicked and dragged the new file into the appropriate folders in an attempt to replace the old file. When asked if I wanted to replace the other file I said yes. Then when I tried to open photoshop and flash or any other programs I was told that it was not a valid windows image or something like that. So, I am back at square one and very frustrated.
I still have CS4 files, but I have uninstalled them. I am wondering if my altering the files will stay constant if I try to extract and reinstall again or if I should just completely delete, re download, and start over. Either way, I need help getting this program on my computer and I also need help getting past the serial number and/or calling home issue.
I am operating on Windows XP. Any help is appreciated and feel free to explain everything as if you are talking to a 5 year old. THANKS TO ALL FOR THEIR IDEAS ABOUT SOLVING INSTALLATION PROBLEMS W/ CS4. I AM A LONG TIME USER OF PHOTOSHOP FROM THE FIRST UP TO CS3.
I BOUGHT CS4 TO INSTALL ON A NAIVE QUADCORE WITH 8GIGS AND A TERABYTE HD FOR PHOTO EDITING. NO FIX I’VE TRIED PERMITTED INSTALLATION AND I RETURNED THE SOFTWARE FOR A REFUND. AS A PHOTOGRAPHER I DO NOT FEEL I SHOULD BE ASKED TO BECOME AN IT EXPERT IN ORDER TO SUCCESSFULLY INSTALL THEIR SOFTWARE. THEY NEED TO COME UP WITH AN ONBOARD SOFTWARE FIX THAT AUTOMATICALLY ADDRESSES THESE ISSUES INSTEAD OF REQUIRING THESE MANUAL DOWNLOADS AND RESETS. FOR THE PRICE WE PAY FOR CS4 ITS RIDICULOUS TO BE WASTING PROFESSIONAL TIME ATTEMPTING TO FIX THEIR PROBLEMS FOR THEM. WHAT CHANGED THAT CS3 WORKED FINE AND CS4 DOES NOT? MAJOR ADOBE MISTAKE IN MY OPINION.
For all those who overlooked the fact that there actually are applications for Mac OS X which come with an uninstaller and tried to delete CS3/4 by dragging it into the trash: after running the clean script (as I did), it is not possible to use the uninstaller anymore (in case you haven’t emptied your trash yet and recovered the uninstaller files). If you try to reinstall the whole thing then, the installer will “freeze” at about 90%. The solution is to delete the “Adobe”-Folder in “/Library/ApplicationSupport”. Best solution from me when it “freezes” at 90%. What you do go to another PC or laptop then copy all files you want to install on desktop. Run the setup.exe sure it will finished 100%.
After that it will require you the serial number. Use crack and go to next page. Then you customize the installation, just select all applications then click install. It will require the Cd or DVD then cancel the installation.
Go to C: Program Files Common Files Adobe Installers then copy Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 10.0.log.gz and dreamweaver folder with lots of number example on my pc 0cd60973db40c7a18d728cb3d445563 After that go back to your problem PC or laptop and paste the files on the dreamweaver folder, the winzip file put inside the installers. Makse sure before you paste delete the old files inside the dreamweaver folder and dreamweaver zip file. Then try to install.
This method is really work since we are copying the files from other PC and put on your PC please email me if you have any problem regarding this issue. What a wealth of information when I was feeling very stuck. Fortunately, I was doing a test install on my laptop before installing CS4 programs on my desktop.
I downloaded the trial versions of Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and InDesign from the Adobe site. I have a keygen from chamaira.
I successfully installed Dreamweaver CS4 and then I tried to install Photoshop. That’s when the hanging at 90% occurred during the initializing stage.
I tried three times, then figured, okay, something’s really up here. Then on a lark I tried opening Dreamweaver again to see if it would still work. I got a notice that the serial was no longer valid, so I entered another and it seems to be okay. However, it’s clear that it’s going to all have to be uninstalled now. One of my questions is thiswhen I went to the Adobe site to get the CS4 trial download, the only options I could find were to download each program individually. From reading posts here it’s looking like installing programs individually is not going to work. Any feedback on this?
And where oh where can I find a full CS4 download? Can someone help me with that? And if it’s available on the adobe site, could someone please post the exact page url? I’m so glad I didn’t try to install on my desktop as that’s where I work and I would be stuck for days without Photoshop and Dreamweaver. I’m using CS3 versions there and they work just fine, however I was unable to get other programs to run back when I installed those. I really need InDesign.
Thanks for all your help! I’m willing to try all suggestions above, but I’m thinking I need a CS4 download instead of individual files. It was very complicated trying to install them one at a time. Thank you so much. I really need help and need to get CS4 on my desktop computer. Tried a few of these, didn’t wanna do the full uninstall as it looked like it was gonna take way too long and I dont wanna lose any of my PShop settings.
(i’m trying to install premiere and it’s hanging) Log files said something about duplicate files in the installer folder, so I just went into the aforementioned: C: Program Files (x86) Common Files Adobe Installers folder and renamed the b3234sdfkajsjfjk234asdmn34 folder (the one people say to go into to edit the file) and renamed that folder to something else. Reran the install and it went through. EDIT: sorry, note to self shouldn’t post to blog while driving in traffic, @tyrano-coke there are over ten solutions provided here, some of them are user submitted, you didn’t state which one you tried. It works for 95% of people with the install problem, so I take into account that 5% are kinda like me, and rush through instructions, failing to do a.single.
critical step can cause it to not work. Which operating system are you using? Which version of update are you running SP1 SP2?
Did you disconnect from the internet, did you fully uninstall all adobe products? Which method of uninstall did you do? There are many people reading this blog, on a single day over 600 people on average read this topic.
So being all cranky because nobody jumped when you asked, is not the correct way to go about it. You can find the solution here, I even offer to hop on remotely and DO IT for you, for free.
So if you want the solution you’ll need to be more descriptive. What worked for me was the option of running the pair of uninstaller routines under each of 3 user accounts on the machine and then starting IE and then the installer. The installer will ask at roughly the 90% point that you close IE and then it proceeded normally. Note to Adobe, if you read this thread, why do you CARE that my IE connection is open? You shouldn’t TOUCH anything going to the internet until I’m ready to activate the license!
I’m a system builder and this is NUTS! If you have this same installer on CS5 I will stop recommending it and switch to Avid Media Composer for clients. I still aint getting past this!
Adobe’s CS4 Clean Script is not working for me! I’ve installed Window’s Install Clean Up and done that step, but when I’m about to start the Clean Script I just get to the part where i should choose language!
In an instant, the script just quits. I made a print screen of it just before it closes and this is what it says: “Traceback (most recent call last): File ‘CS4InstallerDatabaseUtility.py’, line 1453, in File ‘CS4InstallerDatabaseUtility.py’, line 860, in writeDirTokens UnicodeDecodeError: ‘ascii’ codec can’t decode byte 0xc4 in position 26: ordinal not in range” What does this mean and what can I do to fix it? Please help!! I’m a professional photographer and have been using PS Elements 4 —- no, that’s not a typo. Window’s Vista 64 bit.
I’ve uninstalled Elements 4 from my machine. I have the CS5 Extended disk that I bought on Ebay. Each time I try to install, the “initiating installation” progress bar slowly moves from left to right, only to stop at about 98% complete and then absolutely nothing happens. It essentially happens just as described in the opening paragraph. I’ve ran the Windows Install Cleanup and it found an old folder from Photoshop Elements and it removed it. I then ran the CS5 Installer Database Utility. Sometimes it says cleanup complete.
Other times it says cleanup complete BUT WITH ERRORS. Checking the Log File it claims that a folder still exists and it needs to be removed. It then refers to a path that simply does NOT exist on my computer. C/PrgramFiles/AppData/Adobe/OOBE There is no “AppData” on my computer.
The cleaner utitity seems to flip flop and completes with no errors, then after another reboot, the same error message pops back up. I restart after a successful clenaup, run the CS5 installer and still a no-go on the installation. It stalls out as usual.
I’ve since tried the following registry cleaners and each one INITIALLY finds some remnand of Photoshop and removes them. Running each program again never reveals the same problem twice: CCleaner Revo Uninstall Utility Tune Up 1 Click Maintenance Adobe Support Adviser doesn’t find any problems. I’ve tried every conceivable method of cleaning, rebooting, deleting, uninstalling and nothing works. I cannot even re-install PS Elements 4 on my machine. This is killing me.
I have clients waiting on images. My business is suffering and I’m about to wipe my hard drive and re-install Windows if I cannot fix this. Any suggestions are GREATLY APPRECIATED and sorely needed! Here is what happened to me, in short: I had perfectly working CS4.
Mac Os X Versions

I have been using CS3 master collections for some time and needed to upgrade to CS4 due to AVCHD editing. I too am having much difficulty installing CS4 master collection. The first two installs ending with expired serials and asking for new ones. Which resulted in deleting the software. Unfortunately, I have not been able to reinstall the software again as it stalls out. It appears that I have to delete CS3 as well which I need to keep working on some projects. Is there any way to install the CS4 to make sure it remains working fine without any gliches without deleting CS3.
